Miami Dolphins 21 Atlanta Falcons 20 December 3, 1995

Game Review by Nate 'Igor' Smith from DolFansNYC
Live from Twitter October 19, 2015 - @DolfansNYC

20 years ago I went to Miami to see the Dolphins play for the first time. They beat the Falcons in a classic Marino comeback.

I got a copy of that game and am watching it for the first time since I saw it live.

It opens with a pretty sweet Dion Sanders/Jerry Jones Pizza Hut commercial.

This completely wasted Falcons fan was heckling me the whole game (I was 15) and he passed out and missed the ending of the game.

Oh man @RichmondWebb and @ksims69 are wrecking people on the opening drive. Parmalee has room for days.

Apparently I am about to live Tweet a 20 year old game.

After a drop from Byers and a well timed blitz from Clay Matthews Dolphins went for it on 4-1. First down Parmalee!

Somehow Marino threw a couple of bad passes and the drive ends with a Pete Stoyanovich field goal. Miami 3. Atlanta 0.

Commercial highlight: Spike Lee for PowerMac.

Jeff George running the Run and Shoot real well. Bryan Cox and Lewis Oliver chased him down but they picked up another first two plays later

Ironhead Heyward down to the two. Dolphins are in trouble here...

Great pass from George to Bert Emanuel in the end zone. Dolphins fans booing. Miami 3. Atlanta 7.

The Dolphins had lost three straight games going into this one. Sound familiar?

Oh man, another Dion Sanders commercial. This one for Sega College Football 2.

Took a break from this 1995 Phins/Falcons game to make a phone call but I am back. Dolphins 2nd drive ended thanks to a Tim Ruddy hold. :(

Third Dion Sanders commercial during the first quarter. First Pizza Hut, then Sega now Nike.

Falcons second drive goes nowhere. Dolphins get the ball back near the start of the second quarter.

Something happened to the VHS tape that this was recorded from when I came back @DanMarino threw and end zone INT but it wasn’t his fault.

Not that any INT was ever @DanMarino's fault…

Oh man Metcalf burned us for a 28 yard TD run. Dolphins 3. Falcons 14.

They’re talking about Clay Matthew’s kids in this game. Wonder if they knew they would be talking about @ClayMatthews52 again 20 years later

Had our first @ojmcduffie81 sighting in the game. 8 yard gain followed by a big Terry Kirby catch and run.

Good god. Amazing TD catch by Gary Clark.

By the way, this game tape comes courtesy of @Miami_DolFilms. Thanks man!

Dolphins went for two but Parmalee got tackled at the 1. Dolphins 9. Falcons 14.

With 22 seconds left in the half the Falcons fumbled a draw designed to run out the clock but they recovered.

At halftime Dolphins are down 9 to 14 to the 1995 Atlanta Falcons.

Fast forwarding through the halftime show but good to know the 1995 Jets are losing.

Jeff Cross gets the first sack of the game. T-Buck took away half the field by himself.

Gene Atkins missed an INT but still brings up 4th down. Marino gets the ball at the 20 after a punt into the end zone.

Announcers are talking about how good @RichmondWebb and @ksims69 are. Then @ojmcduffie81 immediately makes one hell of a catch. Wow.

Falcons defense came up huge in the redzone. Marino is losing his mind on the sideline and Stoyanovich gets a kicked blocked!

T-Buck recovered a fumble but Marco Coleman got his hands to the face of a lineman. Falcons keep the ball.

This time the Falcons go for it on 4th and get it. That’s three successful 4th down tries in one game.

Same score at the end of 3. Dolphins 9. Falcons 14.

Jeff George just got murdered by Bryan Cox but Mathis caught it in the end zone. Falcons go for 2 and fail. Falcons 20. Dolphins 9.

Apparently during this game Trent Dilfer got kicked out of a game for attacking John Randall after getting sacked 6 times.

With less than 10 minutes left in the game the Dolphins are still down 11 but they are driving.

Byers was playing so well in this game but just dropped two passes. The crowd is booing again.

For the third time in the game the Dolphins go for it on 4th down. @ojmcduffie81 does what he do and gets the 1st.

With less than 8 minutes left in the game the Dolphins score. Parmalee ran it in on 1st and goal from the three.

This game had four successful 4th down attempts and now three failed 2 point conversions. Dolphins 15, Falcons 20

Jamal Anderson and the Falcons are trying to run out the clock but Dolphins defense comes up huge.

Dolphins at their own 40. Down 5 with 6 minutes to go.

Third and three and 18 year vet Clay Matthews Sr. picks the ball off. Fans are leaving the building. This game is over… or is it?

With Falcons driving, up by 5, Dolphins call their first time out with just over 2 minutes left in the game.

Two minute warning. Falcons 3rd and 1 inside their 30. Still 20 to 15 Falcons.

They just showed a sign in the crowd that said “Stop the pain! Win!” If only those fans knew what the next 20 years would hold…

Tim Bowens makes a huge play. 4th and inches. Dolphins call their second time out.

Another 4th down attempt! But this time Bryan Cox makes the stop! Dolphins ball at their 30 with 1:49 left and one time out!

Another great first down grab from @ojmcduffie81! 1:27 left at the Dolphins 39.

At this point I would just like to point out that the Falcons have a player named Jumpy.

The announcer just said the Dolphins haven’t been below .500 since 1988.

With a 9 yard pass to Irving Fryer @DanMarino broke the 300 yard mark for the 52nd time an NFL record. 3rd and 1 with under a minute left!

Wait no! It’s a first down! And @DanMarino hits @ojmcduffie81 again for 17! Injury timeout to the Falcons with 33 seconds left!

Oh my God! @DanMarino scrambled for 12 AND got out of bounds! Clock stops at 20 seconds. Dolphins at the 21 down 5!

UNBELIEVABLE CATCH! Irving Fryer from @DanMarino in the endzone! Dolphins are in the lead with just seconds left!!

Dolphins committed a delay of game on the 2 point conversion. They still had a time out too.

And that is the 4th failed two point conversion attempt in the game. Dolphins up 21 - 20 with 11 seconds left.

The Miller Lite player of the game is of course @DanMarino.

Falcons get one last chance. They have seven seconds left and one time out.

After a confusing ending where the Falcons tried to call a time out after a catch the game is over. The Dolphins win!

The Falcons should have had a second left on the clock but that’s it. Dolphins win! Dolphins win!

The post game is on this DVD too. Apparently a young Brett Farve had a pretty good game but Reggie White hurt his leg.

Anyway thanks a bunch to @Miami_DolFilms for this game. The first game I saw in Miami was a hell of a game!
